Roadway Design

Roadway Design

Applying a style to a centerline profile can also create carriageways. Styles are provided in a user definable library to local standards. These styles can be applied to 3D centerlines creating a true 3D surface not just a drawing. Immediately, a length of carriageway can be contoured or analyzed for flat spots for example. Use of these styles means commonly used road configurations need not to be repeatedly defined – leading to standardization and consistency of design. Curve widening or lay-bys are easily performed in 3D. Compliance to road standards is therefore made very quick and easy. This allows for:

  • Linear or reverse curves
  • Application lengths defined by length or ratio
  • Controllable road gradients by widening
